Month of Thanksgiving - Day 30

1Peter 5:7-11
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Apostle Peter sent us another reminder through this passage. He encourages us to be humble and submissive to God and cast all our anxieties on Him. At the same time, he admonishes us to be alert to the devil, keep in sober mind, and resist him with steadfast faith.

Thank the Lord that He loves us, protects us, and watches over us, so that we can cast our burdens upon Him, fully trusting that He knows and cares all things that trouble us. When we are reminded that He has been protecting and providing for even birds in the air and lilies in the wild, how deeply we are assured that He will also take care of us, His own sons and daughters! Thank the Lord of all grace for calling us into His eternal glory through Jesus Christ; He will surely perfect us, establish us, and strengthen us so that we realize the purpose He has called us.

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 29

2 Peter 1:3-11
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The book of 2 Peter is a letter Peter wrote to all the apostles at that time when he foresaw his coming death for Jesus. Knowing the danger of false doctrines, he wrote this letter to admonish the apostles to stand fast on the truth, and to grow in knowledge and all discernment.

Thank the Lord that we can know Jesus and accept Him as our Savior. Our faith in Him has provided us with all “things pertain to life and godliness”. Thank the Lord for reminding us today through the passage that we ought to “give all diligence” to make fruitful progress in our Christian living - so we will not be led away by false teachings, but enter the everlasting kingdom of God abundantly.

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 28

Hebrews 10:19-25
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank the Lord Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins. His blood has cleansed us and His death has torn apart the curtain of the temple. Through His body we have this new and living way to enter the the Holy of Holiest.

All praise to our High Priest Jesus, who Himself has been the faithful starward in God’s family, and has promised us that we can come to God face to face with full confidence through faith in Him. Thank the Lord Jesus, He has been strengthening us to stand fast on His promise through the Spirit, for our God is faithful so our hope will never be cut off.

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 27

Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to God who sets us apart from the world to become His own beloved children. May we share the same mindset as Christ Jesus so that our lives can carry out His own character -- His compassion, His kindness, His humility, His gentleness and His patience. May Jesus shine through us in our everyday life.

Thanks also to our God that we can be members of His body, the church. As He Himself is the head of the church, He binds us together with His love and virtue, so that we may live out our testimonies in perfect unity. Let us worship Him evermore with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Nevertheless, in whatever we do, we do it for Jesus with a thankful heart.

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 26

Ephesians 1:3-14
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this chapter, verse 3 to 14 consist a long sentence. The entire passage has three “to the praise of His glory”. Therefore, this passage can be divided into three praises: a) praise to the Holy Father (verse 4-6A); b) praise to the Holy Son (verse 6B-12); and c) praise to the Holy spirit (verse 13-14)

Praise the Lord! Although we don’t deserve to receive His blessings, He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Praise the Lord! He is the source of all blessings, and make Christ our eternal blessing, our life, our treasure, our goal, our ability, our foundation and our everything.

Praise the Lord! The Holy Spirit comes abide within when we accept the Lord Jesus , guiding and managing us in every aspect of our lives. Through the work of the Holy Spirit and our own obedience, God is glorified and we are blessed!

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 25

John 14:6-7,12-14
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” We can see in this verse a “the” in front of “way”, “truth”, and “life” respectively. They refer to three specific things: “way” is the way to the heaven, “truth” is by what we get to know God, and “life” is the transformation we will have by experiencing God’s authority on us. Praise the Lord! Without our Lord Jesus, no one can be saved, or come to the Father to know Him and enjoy the intimacy with Him. Such amazing grace and love is completed through Jesus. Praise the Lord! He gives us the privilege to pray in His name as His children. He also promised us: whatever we ask in His name, that He will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Amen!

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 24

Psalm 11815-29
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation Is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord has chastened me severely, But He has not given me over to death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them, And I will praise the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord, Through which the righteous shall enter.
21 I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.
23 This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 God is the Lord, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You.
29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Psalm 118 is the last psalm of the 6 Hallel psalms (113-118), and the Passover song for the Israelis. Very likely, our Lord Jesus and His disciples sang this psalm at the Last Supper. “The stone which the builders rejected" in this psalm reveals the great pain of our Lord Jesus - His suffering is not only physical affliction, or the pain of bearing all sins, but also the agony of being rejected from the Father. Such separation pain is an unspeakable suffering for our Trinity God. Brothers and sisters, if we truly comprehend the enormous price paid by Jesus, all of us should be amazed by His salvation for sinners, as maggots and as worms, like you and me. He sacrificed His life to open to us the gates of righteousness, shepherding us with integrity of heart, and leading us with skillful hands. May we our pray the same prayer full of gratitude: "You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."
